Terms of Service
Last updated: August 2026
Welcome to Whodunly, a daily murder-mystery deduction game and a product by Vyomio ("Vyomio", "we", "us"), a small, independent studio based in Sydney, Australia. These Terms are the agreement between you and us when you use Whodunly. We have kept them as plain as we can. Please read them, along with our Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, and Cookie Policy, which are part of these Terms.
1. Accepting these Terms
By using Whodunly — whether you play anonymously or with an account — you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the game. If you let a child play Whodunly (as an anonymous guest), you are responsible for their use.
2. Who can use Whodunly (eligibility and age)
Anyone, of any age, can play the daily game anonymously, with no account and no personal data collected. This is how younger children use Whodunly.
To create an account or subscribe, you must be at least 13 years old (or older where your country requires it) — where the law where you live sets a higher minimum age for consenting to online services (for example, up to 16 in parts of the EU and UK), you must meet that higher age. We do not allow anyone under 13 to create an account. If you are under the minimum age, please just keep playing as a guest — you still get the full daily game.
Any purchase or subscription must be made by an adult. If you are 13 to 17, you generally cannot enter into a subscription contract on your own, so a parent or guardian must make the purchase, agree to these Terms, and be responsible for the payment.
By creating an account you confirm that you meet these age requirements.
3. What Whodunly offers
- The free game. A new mystery every day, plus streaks, statistics, sharing, and the Sunday hard case — free, forever.
- Sleuth Club (paid subscription). Extra features such as the full case archive, ranked play, deeper statistics, streak freezes, and premium cosmetic themes. Pricing is A$5.99/month or A$39.99/year, or as shown at checkout.
- Case packs (one-time purchase). Themed sets of extra cases, currently A$7.99 each, or as shown at checkout.
We may add, change, or remove features over time (see section 9). Prices are shown at checkout and may change with notice.
4. Your account and your responsibility
Sign-in uses Google or a one-time email magic link — there are no passwords. You are responsible for keeping access to your email and sign-in accounts secure, and for activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has accessed your account. You agree to give accurate information (such as a real email address) and to keep it up to date.
5. Fair use — what you may not do
Whodunly is meant to be enjoyed honestly. You agree not to:
- cheat, or use bots, scripts, or automated tools to play, inflate scores, or manipulate leaderboards or ratings;
- scrape, harvest, or bulk-download our cases, clues, or solutions, or probe or attack our systems;
- copy, republish, resell, redistribute, or make our case content available to others, or create derivative works from it, except as these Terms allow;
- share or post the solution to the current daily case in a way designed to spoil it for others;
- reverse-engineer the game to extract unflipped clues or solutions;
- use Whodunly to break the law, infringe others' rights, or harass anyone.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules. For ranked play we may quietly exclude accounts that show anomalous behaviour from leaderboards, rather than banning them.
6. Intellectual property
Whodunly, including the game, its look and feel, its software, and all of its mysteries — the stories, scenes, clues, characters, and solutions — is owned by Vyomio and protected by copyright and other laws. Every case is an original work written by (or for) Vyomio.
Some cases use character names drawn from public-domain fiction (for example, classic detective and gothic characters whose works are out of copyright) purely to spark familiarity. We use only the names and generic place archetypes — the plots, events, and writing are entirely our own invention, and we do not copy or adapt any storyline from any book, film, or series. Those original stories are our intellectual property.
You may share your own result grids (the emoji score and streak) freely — that is the whole point. Beyond that, you get a personal, limited, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to play Whodunly for your own enjoyment. You may not use our name, logos, or content commercially without our written permission.
7. Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation
- Auto-renewal. Sleuth Club subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly) at the then-current price, until you cancel. Case packs are one-time purchases and do not renew.
- Payment. Billing is handled by Stripe. By subscribing you authorise us, through Stripe, to charge your chosen payment method for each renewal. We never see your full card number.
- Cancelling. You can cancel any time through the billing portal in your account settings. Cancellation stops future renewals; your paid access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- Refunds. Whether and how refunds apply is set out in our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms and preserves any rights you have under consumer law.
- Price and plan changes. We may change subscription prices or plans; we will give you reasonable notice before a change affects a renewal, and you can cancel if you do not agree.
8. Disclaimers
Whodunly is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise the game will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or that a particular case will suit everyone. We try hard to keep it running well and to keep your data safe, but the game is entertainment, not a critical service.
Nothing in these Terms excludes rights you have under laws that cannot be excluded — including consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law and mandatory consumer protections in other countries. Where such rights apply, they stand alongside these Terms.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Vyomio will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) Whodunly. Where our liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, and to the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Again, this does not limit rights that the law says cannot be limited.
10. Indemnity
If your misuse of Whodunly — for example breaking section 5, or infringing someone else's rights — causes a third-party claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and losses we suffer as a result, to the extent the law allows. This is a standard protection and is not meant to catch ordinary, good-faith use of the game.
11. Changes to the service and these Terms
We may update the game and these Terms from time to time. If we make a significant change to these Terms, we will update the "Last updated" date and give reasonable notice (for example, in-app or by email). If you keep using Whodunly after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you can stop using the game and, if you have a subscription, cancel it.
12. Ending your use
You can stop using Whodunly at any time and delete your account from your settings. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, or if we need to for legal or security reasons. If we end your access without cause while you have paid time remaining, the Refund Policy applies.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and you and we submit to the courts of New South Wales, Australia, without affecting any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
